"Smile...Jesus Loves You," that's the title of the 2011 "Celebrate September as Sunday School Month" program! The 2011 campaign is quite different from most of our "Celebrate September..." programs. This program is designed to focus on the children of a church and Sunday school. Why are we doing this? Because one of the biggest concerns of churches these days relates to the declining enrollment of children in their Sunday schools.
The "Smile...Jesus Loves You" program is subtitled as "a program to emphasize the importance of the Bible and Sunday school to children." Throughout the campaign, the smiley face is used to remind the kids that Jesus loves them, he wants to be their friend, and he wants them to learn more about himself by reading their Bible and by attending Sunday school each week.
Each year the Pennsylvania State Sunday School Association urges churches to "Celebrate September as Sunday School Month." To assist churches in planning and conducting a special celebration to "kick off" their new Sunday school year, the P.S.S.S.A. also creates a special "kit" on the annual thrme. This year's "kit" uses the "Smile...Jesus Loves You" theme and includes a wide variety of materials to help churches invite the kids to Sunday school, keep the kids coming back to Sunday school week after week, and to tell parents about the value of Sunday school and to remind them that their entire family should be in Sunday school every week. The "Smile...Jesus Loves You" program kit is designed for use over a period of four Sundays. Specifically, it is designed for use during the four Sundays of September, however the materials are not dates, so they could be used at any time. The kit includes...
- A 36-page Planning Guidebook. This guidebook contains dozens of ideas to help churches plan, promote and carry out
a program that will catch the attention of the kids and their parents.
- Four Weekly Readings about the importance of the Bible and Sunday school. These readings are intended for use as the "children's message during worship or as the basis
for the lesson in junior church.
- Eleven 11" x 17" full color "Lesson Illustration Sheets" that are designed for use with
the four weekly readings.
- Four reproducible "Children's Activity Sheets," one for each Sunday of the program.
These sheets contain information about the importance of the Bible and Sunday
school and a puzzel or game.
- Five reproducible "Parent/Adult Information Insert Sheets." The first sheet informs the
congregation about the coming program and the other sheets are designed for
use on each of the Sundays of the program.
- Over $10.00 worth of "Sunday School Stuff" promotional item samples. Many of these
items are brand new and have been created just for the "Smile...Jesus Loves You"
program. These new items include a "Kids' Promo Pack," with four individual pack
of related items that can be given to the kids on each of the Sundays of the
